HAYLEY WARNER NEW SINGLE - HANDS
OFF
Hayley Warner is back in the spotlight with her brand new single "Hands
Off", capturing all the dynamic, in-your-face attitude that the singer
showed off throughout the last series of Australian Idol. Ready to unleash
the energy she brought to her memorable television performances, Hayley is
proving that she's anything but a carbon-copy pop singer - instead she's
proving to be one of the most exciting Australian artists to emerge in
recent years.
"It's been pretty crazy for me over the last nine months or so," she says,
beaming with infectious enthusiasm. "I got signed to Sony Music five days
after Australian Idol finished last year, which was pretty phenomenal.
Less than a month later I released my first single "Good Day", and it's
just been a crazy ride since then. I've been in bands ever since I was 12
years old, and now I really want to focus on being a solo artist. I feel
really liberated right now about the direction of my own career and I've
been really proud of the decisions I've made so far, and hopefully they'll
start to pay off."
Taking some time off earlier this year to start the songwriting process,
Hayley then made her way to LA for recording sessions with husband/wife
partnership Leah Haywood and Dan Pringle, who've previously worked on
projects for the likes of Britney Spears, Cassie Davies and Allison
Iraheta. "Hands Off" is the electrifying first taster of her feisty new
recordings.
"‘Hands Off' is really angsty and really leftfield - it's not polished pop
as such, but at the same time it has a definite commercial essence to it
as well. It's got everything that I dreamed of putting into a song, and so
it's just awesome. Lyrically it's all about my boyfriend cheating on me
with my best friend. It's not a real experience, I should add, but
hopefully the song and the video will act as a warning for anyone thinking
about messing me around like that in the future!
"Funny story actually - there were three other tracks we were going over
to LA to record, and I wasn't really sure about ‘Hands Off' when I first
heard it. I sort of chucked it to the side and didn't really think about
it, but we had some extra time in LA so we thought, ‘what the heck', let's
just record it anyway, and it turned out to be incredible! A song that was
left in the dark is now in the light."
Full to the brim of Hayley's lively and animated attitude, "Hands Off" is
guaranteed to become one of this year's blistering rock/pop anthems,
capturing all the energy of Hayley's live performances, and taking
inspiration from some of her favourite artists. "Paramore are a huge
influence on me, so I think it's definitely got that kind of influence on
the song, but it also has a lot of my other influences, like Pink and The
Killers. That's the mix of the kind of style I wanted to achieve with my
music, and I think we really captured that on the single. I'm just getting
started - there's plenty more to come from me, but ‘Hands Off' acts like
the perfect calling-card to let people know who it is I wanna be as a
performer. Get ready, because I'm all fired-up and ready to rock!"
Idol runner-up Hayley Warner scores Sony contract
She may have been narrowly beaten by soul man Stan Walker at the National
Final, Australian Idol runner-up Hayley Warner has been granted the
ultimate consolation prize — a record contract with Sony Music, the label
so integrally associated with the Idol brand.
It was a no-brainer really. The then 17-year-old (Hayley celebrated her
18th Birthday on Saturday 23 January 2010) from Sydney won a strong
following with her power-rock stylings and her cheeky personality. Regardless
of the outcome of the show, she was always a strong bet to be picked up by
a major label and she will sell truckloads of CD's. Her first single will
be Good Day, the song she first performed on the semi-final of the show.

Hayley Warner's Journey on Network 10's Australian Idol
The
incredibly talented and extremely entertaining Hayley Warner was an
absolute standout performer in Channel 10's Australian Idol Top 12. She built a
huge and loyal following in a very short time and her high-energy
performances have earned her massive cred. This chick knows how to put on
a show - many say that she is the female version of superstar Robbie Williams. Her
main ambition is "not to be boring" and she certainly has succeeded in
this mission. Every time she hits the stage it is like watching a cyclone
with a cheeky smile rip through the building. Hayley Warner has been
described as a vocal “powerhouse”, whose breathtaking performances display
her versatility in range & emotion. Haley's interpretation of Pink's "Fun
House" not only got her a standing ovation on Australian Idol but also
scored her a "Rexona Moment"! Idol judge Ian "Dicko" Dickson
described her as "possibly the coolest 17-year-old girl in the southern
hemisphere".
Hayley Warner BIO
Obsessed by sport as a kid, including playing for the Barden Ridgebacks,
Hayley Warner didn't really get involved in anything musical until she was
12 but once she dipper her toe in the water, there was no turning back.
"I never realised I could actually sing at all until I was around 13
and one day someone said ‘Oh, you’re pretty cool”, and then I just sort of
discovered it and kept working on it," says 17-year-old Hayley
Warner, who most recently was the lead singer of the second band she's
been in; Bleached Academy.
Bleached Academy have just released an EP but the band
is in "suspended animation" while Hayley takes her shot at Idol. Hayley
says her band members are very supportive of her attempt at Idol
supremacy. The band is actually benefiting as well from Hayley being on
Idol. A recent mention on Idol has already resulted in thousands of new
friend requests for Bleached Academy on their MySpace site.
Leaving school in Year 10 to work and concentrate on
music was not a difficult decision for this Southern Sydney lass. "I
didn’t really enjoy school, I never sort of fitted in," Hayley says. "I only really went for the sport, recess and
lunch", she adds with a mischievous smile.
"I never got lessons until about a year ago,"
Hayley admits frankly. "Then
I pulled my finger out and got cracking - getting serious about
what I was passionate about."
When asked where she inherited her musical talents from, Hayley says her family certainly aren't
on the list of suspects. "I can safely say that none of my family members have
a rhythmic bone in their bodies," she laughs.
"Neither Mum or Dad can hold a tune. Josh - my
brother and Brittany - my sister - just atrocious - there simply is no
other way to describe it."
Having made it into the Final 12 and placing runner-up of Australian Idol, Hayley Warner's
determined to pull out all the stops to make the most of the
opportunity. "I hope that this opens a lot of doors for me, and that
the right people will see me that enjoy what I can do and bring to the
table," states Hayley. "I don’t want to go
back to working in a surf shop or go back to school. This, for me, is it and I’m
definitely willing to do anything in my power to make that happen and
hopefully people along the way can help me out. Music’s awesome, I just
love it."
